Why check the sticker on a used Ram?
The Monroney label on a new Ram lists the model, cab and bed, the trim, the standard equipment, each option and package with its price, the destination charge, the total MSRP, EPA fuel economy where the truck is rated, and the assembly plant. Heavy-duty pickups such as the 2500 and 3500 are generally too heavy to need EPA fuel economy ratings, so don’t be surprised if that box is missing on an HD sticker. Ratings for the 1500 are on fueleconomy.gov.
For a used truck, the sticker settles the questions that matter: which engine and axle ratio it left the factory with, whether it has the towing or off-road group, and which Quick Order Package it was built as.
What does 26Z mean on a Ram sticker?
Ram, like the other Stellantis brands, groups each trim’s equipment into a Quick Order Package. On the sticker it appears as a three-character code followed by the trim name. Dealer listings for 2015 to 2017 Ram 1500s show examples such as “Quick Order Package 26Z Big Horn”, “27S Big Horn” and “22S Big Horn”. The letters and digits shift from year to year and with the engine, so treat the code as specific to that model year.
Below the Quick Order Package, the sticker lists optional groups and stand-alone options by name with prices.
Behind the scenes, Stellantis tracks every component with three-character sales codes. They show up on the build sheet rather than the sticker. The Mopar build sheet page explains how to read them.
What trims does the Ram 1500 come in?
| Model | Notes |
|---|---|
| Ram 1500 | Half-ton pickup |
| Ram 2500, Ram 3500 | Heavy-duty pickups, with diesel options |
| ProMaster | Full-size van |
The 2025 Ram 1500 came in about ten trims: Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, Big Horn (sold as Lone Star in Texas), Warlock, Laramie, Rebel, RHO, Limited, Limited Longhorn and Tungsten. Rebel is the off-road-styled truck built from the Big Horn, and Limited Longhorn is set apart mainly by its saddle-colored interior and grille. For 2025 the standard engine was the 3.0L Hurricane inline-six, with a high-output Hurricane standard on Limited, Limited Longhorn, RHO and Tungsten.
Where are the VIN and paint code on a Ram truck?
- VIN plate: through the windshield on the driver’s side of the dash, and again on the certification label in the driver’s door opening.
- Paint code: look at the Ram’s vehicle certification label in the driver’s door opening. Stellantis paint codes are three characters, usually starting with P. Bright White, for example, is PW7.
The paint code is never part of a Ram’s VIN; see our paint code guide for why. The Dodge paint code page covers the shared Stellantis paint system in more detail.
How do I get a Ram window sticker by VIN?
Put in the truck’s 17-character VIN and our licensed window-sticker data partner checks for the original Ram sticker. You find out whether it’s on file before you pay. The NHTSA decode, trim and recall count are free, and nhtsa.gov/recalls shows open recalls on that exact VIN. When the sticker is on file, the $9.99 Full Report adds the sticker PDF, the Quick Order Package and each option with its price, the paint code where it can be matched, and full recall details. Coverage varies by model year. If we list a sticker as available and can’t deliver it, you’re refunded automatically.
If none is on file: ask a Ram dealer’s service or parts department to pull the original build from the VIN; it lists the sales codes and the Quick Order Package. Ram’s customer care contact is listed on ramtrucks.com and in the owner’s manual. The original purchase paperwork usually repeats the sticker’s package lines.
