Is that Challenger a real Scat Pack?
Dodge’s muscle cars are sold on their trims, engines and option packages, and those are exactly the things sellers get wrong or overstate. The original Monroney label lists the trim, standard equipment, every option and package with its price, the destination charge, the total MSRP, EPA fuel economy and the assembly plant. On a used Challenger, Charger or Durango, it is the cleanest record of how the car left the factory.
Which Dodge models can you check?
| Model | Years and notes |
|---|---|
| Challenger | Coupe; the 2023 model year was its last |
| Charger (sedan) | Previous V8 sedan generation ended with the 2023 model year |
| Charger Daytona | Electric Charger from the 2024 model year; Dodge later dropped the R/T, leaving the Scat Pack |
| Charger Sixpack | Gas Charger with the Hurricane inline-six |
| Durango | Three-row SUV, including the SRT Hellcat |
| Hornet | Compact SUV; production stopped in 2025 and it is not in the 2026 lineup |
Trim names such as SXT, GT, R/T, Scat Pack, SRT and SRT Hellcat appear across the lineup. On a used car, the trim on the sticker matters far more than the badges on the body, because badges are easy to add.
How are Dodge packages listed on the sticker?
Dodge uses the same ordering system as the other Stellantis brands. Each trim’s base equipment is bundled into a Quick Order Package, written on the sticker as a three-character code followed by the trim name. Below it, the sticker lists optional groups and stand-alone options by name with prices.
Every component is also tracked by a three-character sales code. These appear on the build sheet rather than the sticker. The Mopar build sheet page walks through them.
Where are the VIN and paint code on a Challenger or Charger?
- VIN plate: on the dash at the driver’s side, where you can read it through the windshield. It’s also on the certification label in the driver’s door opening.
- Paint code: printed on the Dodge’s certification label in the driver’s door opening. Dodge paint codes are three characters, usually starting with P.
Dodge is known for its bright heritage colors, and the paint code is how collectors confirm them. Plum Crazy, for example, is code PHG, and Bright White is PW7. Some color names, like Go Mango, have been used with more than one code over the decades, so always read the code on the car’s own label instead of trusting a color chart. The Dodge paint code page explains how to read the label.
Don’t look for the paint code in a Dodge VIN. It isn’t there, as our paint code guide explains.
How do I get a Dodge window sticker by VIN?
Give us the 17-character VIN and our licensed window-sticker data partner looks for the original sticker on that exact Dodge. You’ll know whether it’s there before paying. Three things are free: the NHTSA decode, the trim and the recall count. Open recalls on the VIN itself are at nhtsa.gov/recalls. When the sticker exists, the $9.99 Full Report adds its PDF, every package and option with the original price, the paint code where it can be matched, and full recall details. What’s on file varies by model year. A sticker shown as available that we can’t deliver is refunded automatically.
If none is on file: a Dodge dealer’s service or parts department can pull the original build from the VIN, including the sales codes and Quick Order Package. Dodge customer care is listed on dodge.com and in the owner’s manual. If the seller has the original purchase agreement, it usually repeats the sticker’s package lines.
