Coverage: No original-sticker source for Audi; free NHTSA decode for all model years
Can you get an Audi window sticker by VIN?
Not here. We can’t pull the original window sticker for an Audi. There’s no Audi sticker source behind this tool, so we don’t sell one and won’t present a reconstruction as the original.
What you get for free on any Audi VIN:
- NHTSA vPIC decode: model year, model, trim or series, body style, engine, drivetrain, fuel and assembly plant where reported
- Recall count: the number of NHTSA recall campaigns for that model and year, with a link to nhtsa.gov to check open recalls on the exact VIN
- Decoded build data: labeled “decoded data, not the original sticker”
Where is the PR-code label on an Audi?
Audi shares a useful habit with the rest of the Volkswagen Group: a vehicle data label that lists the factory build in code form. Look in the trunk, around the spare-tire well and under the floor mat. A duplicate is usually on the first page of the maintenance booklet.
The label carries the VIN, the model code, engine and transmission codes, the paint and interior codes, and a block of three-character PR codes. Each PR code stands for one item of factory equipment. Decoding them takes an Audi parts counter or a PR-code reference, but they let you confirm options without the original sticker. The trunk label can fade or go missing, so check the booklet if it’s not there.
What’s the difference between Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige?
In the U.S., most Audi models come in three trim levels:
| Trim | Where it sits |
|---|---|
| Premium | Entry trim |
| Premium Plus | Middle trim, more standard equipment |
| Prestige | Top trim on many models |
The model name tells you the rest. “quattro” means all-wheel drive, and the number badge (such as 40 or 45 TFSI on recent models) indicates the power level rather than engine size. Packages are added on top of the trim: names you’ll see include the S line exterior or sport package, the Black optic package and various convenience and driver-assistance packages, depending on model and year. S and RS models are separate performance lines, not packages. Two A4s with the same trim can differ a lot by package, which is why the PR codes or the original sticker matter. The trim lookup can help compare trims.
Where to find the Audi VIN
- Bottom of the windshield, driver’s side
- The certification label in the driver’s door jamb
- The vehicle data label in the trunk
- Title, registration and insurance card
Where is the paint code on an Audi?
The VIN doesn’t carry the paint code, as our paint code guide explains. On an Audi, look on the vehicle data label in the trunk or the maintenance-booklet copy. Audi paint codes are short letter-and-number combinations. The Audi paint code page shows how to find it among the other codes.
Where can you find the original Audi sticker?
- Original paperwork. First owners often kept the sticker with the purchase file.
- The selling Audi dealer. The dealer that sold the car new may still have the deal jacket.
- Audi of America customer line. Call 1-800-822-2834 (800-822-AUDI) with the VIN. Owner resources are on audiusa.com.
- The myAudi account. Owners can add the car to the myAudi account or app for vehicle and service details. We couldn’t confirm it shows the original sticker.
- The dealer listing. Late-model used Audi listings often include a sticker image. Save it while it’s live.
What to check on a used Audi
- Package claims. “Fully loaded” means nothing on its own. Match features like adaptive cruise, the Bang & Olufsen sound system or the panoramic sunroof against the PR codes or the cabin itself.
- quattro. Confirm the drivetrain in the decode. Some Audi models were offered in front-wheel drive in certain years.
- Transmission service. Depending on model and year, Audis use S tronic dual-clutch, conventional automatic or CVT gearboxes. Ask for records of fluid service.
- Recalls. Use the nhtsa.gov link in your results, or enter the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls. Audi dealers do recall repairs free.
- Certified pre-owned. If it’s sold as Audi CPO, ask for the inspection report and the remaining coverage dates.
What does the Full Report include for an Audi?
The $9.99 Full Report gives full recall details, owner complaint counts and the decoded build data for the Audi, all in one PDF with a permanent link. It has no option prices and no matched paint code, and the data-label guide above stays free. It’s a one-time payment, with no subscription or account. For Audi it does not include the original sticker. See our refund policy for details.
