Does this Corvette really have the Z51 package?
Corvette values depend heavily on options. Two Stingrays from the same year can differ by an interior package, a performance package and a set of carbon-fibre pieces, and the badges on the car don’t always tell you which. The original Monroney label lists the model and trim, standard equipment, every factory option with its price, the destination charge, total MSRP, EPA fuel economy and the assembly plant. Every C7 and C8 was built at GM’s Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky.
Which C7 and C8 Corvette models are there?
C7 (2014–2019) was the last front-engine Corvette.
- Stingray: 6.2L LT1 V8.
- Grand Sport (2017–2019): LT1 with Z06-derived wide body, brakes and handling.
- Z06 (2015–2019): supercharged 6.2L LT4.
- ZR1 (2019 only): supercharged LT5.
C8 (2020 on) moved the engine behind the seats.
- Stingray (2020 on): 6.2L LT2 V8.
- Z06 (2023 on): 5.5L flat-plane-crank LT6 V8.
- E-Ray (2024 on): LT2 plus a front electric motor for all-wheel drive.
- ZR1 (2025 on): twin-turbocharged 5.5L LT7.
- ZR1X (2026 on): LT7 combined with an E-Ray-derived electric front drive unit.
What do 3LT, Z51 and Z07 mean on a Corvette?
Corvette uses GM’s three-character Regular Production Option codes, and Corvette owners quote them constantly. The ones you’ll see most:
| Code | What it is |
|---|---|
| 1LT, 2LT, 3LT | Stingray equipment levels, 3LT the highest |
| 1LZ, 2LZ, 3LZ | Equipment levels on Z06 and E-Ray (ZR1 offers 1LZ and 3LZ) |
| Z51 | Z51 Performance Package on the Stingray |
| ZER | E-Ray performance package |
| Z07 | Track-focused performance package with extra aero (C8 Z06 and ZR1; also offered on the C7 Z06 and Grand Sport) |
| ZTK | ZR1 performance package, standard on the ZR1X |
On a C7 Stingray, the Z51 package added a dry-sump oil system, an electronic limited-slip differential, larger slotted brake rotors, staggered 19/20-inch wheels and a more aggressive aero package. On a C8 Stingray, Z51 remains the main performance option; for the 2026 model year GM listed it at $6,345.
The window sticker writes these options out by name with their prices. The RPO codes themselves are on the car’s label and in the build data, explained on the GM build sheet page.
Where is the RPO label on a C8 Corvette?
- VIN: on the driver’s side of the dashboard, visible through the windshield. C7 and C8 VINs begin with 1G1Y.
- Certification label: on Corvettes it is on the driver’s door, not the B-pillar as on most GM models. From the 2018 model year, GM added a QR code to it. Scan it to see the VIN, build date, the RPO codes and the paint code.
The VIN doesn’t contain the paint code; our paint code guide explains why, and the GM paint code guide covers GM’s codes.
How do I get a Corvette window sticker by VIN?
Paste in the Corvette’s 17-character VIN. Our licensed window-sticker data partner checks for that car’s original sticker, and you get the answer before you pay anything. The NHTSA decode, trim and recall count are free, and nhtsa.gov/recalls lists any open recalls on the exact VIN. If the sticker is on file, the $9.99 Full Report adds the sticker PDF, every option from the equipment level to Z51 or Z07 with its price, the paint code where we can match it, and full recall details. Some model years have more stickers on file than others. If a sticker we showed as available can’t be delivered, your money comes back automatically.
If none is on file: scan the door label QR code for the RPO list, then compare it with the codes above. A Chevrolet dealer can look up the original build from the VIN, and Chevrolet Customer Assistance is at 1-800-222-1020. Chevrolet’s current lineup is on chevrolet.com.
